What Does it Mean That the Bible Is Our Highest Authority?
Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so (Acts 17:11).
There is no greater standard in our lives than the Bible. It is God's inspired, perfect, and true message, which makes it is the ultimate authority for Christians.
As our highest authority, the Bible alone governs what we believe, how we live, and what we hold as true. It has greater authority than people’s opinions, church tradition, and our desires.
The Bible is our final guide for all things. What Scripture says, we believe. What it commands, we obey. We believe everything it says is true, we don’t add to it, we will not deny any part of it, and we reject anything that contradicts it.
As our highest authority, we test all worldly claims, wisdom, ideas, and actions against God's Word. The Bible alone is our supreme standard for what is right and true.
