What Does It Mean That The Bible Is Living And Active?
"Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts." ... For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:7, 12).
God’s Word is unlike any other book—it is the living and authoritative voice of God himself, carried along by the Spirit, and working with power in every generation. The Bible is not merely words on a page; it is the almighty God speaking into our lives.
When heard and understood rightly, Scripture confronts and reads us, exposing our unbelief and disobedience while calling us to believe and live in the right way. It teaches, convicts, comforts, and transforms, forcing us to choose either to believe and obey or to turn away in disobedience.
God’s word is alive and effective. It always accomplishes God’s purposes and never fails to have the effect God designs. God, by his Spirit, makes his written Word a present and powerful instrument to give life, convict hearts, and shape his people to be more like him.
