How Do We Know the Bible is True?
Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
John 17:17
Believing that the Bible is true requires faith and help from the Holy Spirit. Here are ten reasons to believe the Bible is all that it says it is and every word is true.
It claims to be God’s Word: The Bible says it comes from God and backs up that claim.
It has one clear message: Even though it was written by about 40 people over 1,500 years, it all fits together perfectly. It tells one big story about God and his salvation through Jesus Christ.
It never contradicts itself: The Bible is consistent from beginning to end.
It is historically accurate: The Bible talks about real people, places, and events that history confirms.
It is scientifically accurate: The Bible includes facts that were true long before people discovered them through science.
It is verified by archeology: No archaeological discovery has ever proven the Bible wrong but instead supports what it says.
It correctly tells the future: The Bible contains prophecies (predictions) that came true exactly as they were written, even hundreds of years later.
It has been carefully preserved: Thousands of ancient copies show the Bible has been passed down accurately over thousands of years.
It changes lives: The Bible has helped millions of people find salvation, hope, peace, and purpose. People believe it so strongly they are willing to live and even die for it.
It shows God’s glory: Through the Bible we behold the glory of God in Jesus Christ and are changed by what we see and believe.
