A Truth to Believe
What Does it Mean to Delight in Scripture
God’s Word is more than commands—it’s where we meet the living God. This is because God reveals himself in Scripture. The Bible leads us beyond words on a page to the God who saves and satisfies.
In the Bible God shows us who he is and what is true. His Word is a window into reality. When we delight in Scripture, we are delighting in the God that Scripture reveals––primarily in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
To approach God’s Word with pleasure is to crave God’s presence and take joy in knowing him through the text. Therefore, readying, studying, and knowing the Bible is an ongoing desire and delight of God’s people.
As we read and believe God’s Word, it comforts, shapes, and transforms us because it gets us more of God. Even God’s commands become sweet as they become a way to orient our lives and hearts around God. To love God is to love His Word, for it is here that we see his glory and beauty.
How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! (Psalm 119:103)
Something about Caregiving
To be sorrowful does not automatically mean you are not trusting God. Our Father purposes our sorrows to be the sail that hasten our vessel to himself.
May your trials be avenues of further trust in your God. He is faithful. He will see you through.
A Quote
Have the circumstances of your life crashes upon you in such a way that your spirit feels poor and needy?
Samuel Rutherford once wrote to a close friend, "O, pity for evermore that there should be such a one as Christ Jesus, so boundless, so bottomless, And so incomparable in infinite excellency, and sweetness, and so few to take him! O, ye poor dry dead souls, why will ye not come, hither with your toom (empty) vessels and your empty souls to this huge, and fair, and deep, and sweet well of life, and fill all your toom (empty) vessels?
Christ has more and is more than you can ever need or imagine. Come and drink again and again.
