A Truth to Believe
What Does it Mean that God's Word Endures Forever?
God is an eternal God who wrote an eternal book––the Bible. Because the Scriptures come from an infinite God and declare ultimate reality and truth, it is timeless and unchanging. Although human ideas, words, and wisdom come and go, God’s Word lasts forever.
The Bible isn't like grass that withers or flowers that fade. It gives lasting strength, hope, truth, and promises that will never fail or fade away. The Word of God endures forever. It will exist throughout every generation and into the new age to come.
God has spoken eternal and abiding truth through his Word. The Word of God will never become irrelevant, never prove inaccurate, and never change. Scripture is the breathed-out words of an infinite and timeless God making it perfect, final, and enduring forever.
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
Isaiah 40:8
Something about Caregiving
Caregivers will often hear that the loved one they care for needs professionals more than they need their caregiver. While professional help is important and sometimes necessary, our experience as caregiving parents has shown us—time and time again—that we know our child best. Doctors, therapists, and specialists can offer valuable expertise, but they do not see the whole picture the way a parent or daily caregiver does.
Use professionals when needed and be thankful for them. Yet, don’t fall into the trap of believing you are incapable of knowing and providing what is best for the one you love. Your knowledge, intuition, and daily care matter deeply and are often what make the greatest difference.
A Quote
Hypocrisy comes in many forms.
As J. C. Ryle observed, "A man may preach from false motives. A man may write books, and make fine speeches, and seem diligent in good works, and yet be a Judas Iscariot. But a man seldom goes into his closet, and pours out his soul before God in secret, unless he is serious."
Some spiritual habits should carry more weight than others as we press on in pursuit of Christ.
A Booklist
I have had the blessing of helping train pastors around the world and work in pastoral ministry. It is a high and challenging calling.
Here are the best books I have found on pastoring and eldership.
