A Truth to Believe

Does The Meaning of a Biblical Passage Ever Change?

God wrote the Bible so we could understand it. It is the foundation for all truth, and its meaning never changes. The meaning of a passage is what an author original indented to communicate when he first wrote it. That meaning does not change because it is permanently set in history and cannot be altered.

Readers of the Bible cannot create the meaning of a biblical passage but discover it within the words of the text. By the Holy Spirit, we can rightly understand what the authors of the Bible originally meant, although this can take hard work. While we can grow in our understanding of Scripture, meaning always stays the same.

Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything (2 Timothy 2:7).

Something about Living

If you can escape these three modern temptations, you will have a monumental advantage in your pursuit of Jesus and growth in growth in godliness.

(1) The idolatry of sports

(2) Numbing and godless entertainment

(3) The call of social connectivity

A Quote

So many things call out for our attention. Yet, so many of them ought not be our priority.

Kevin DeYoung encourages believers in Christ, “We have to believe that hearing from God is our good portion. We have to believe that the most significant opportunity before us every day is the opportunity to sit at the feet of Jesus. We won’t rearrange our priorities unless we really believe this is the best one.”

What is it going to take for you to make the most important part of today sitting at Jesus’s feet?
