A Truth to Believe
What does it mean that God is Creator
God is the active and purposeful Creator of the heavens, the earth, and all that is in them. He is the sole originator, designer, and maker of this universe. He created not under compulsion or out of need, but to display his glory for the everlasting joy of the redeemed from every tongue, tribe, and nation.
Before anything existed, there was God. The triune God, according to his own good pleasure, spoke all things into existence out of nothing––things visible and invisible. Out of a disposition to share his beauty, goodness, and glory, God created all things in the span of six days.
God created all things good, perfect and without sin: light and time, the sky, dry ground, bodies of water, plants, the sun, the moon, stars, planets, fish, birds, animals, and the human race, the crown of his creation. God created the first humans: Adam––from dust, and Eve––from Adam's side, and graciously placed them within a garden and perfect fellowship with himself.
Not only is God the Creator of all things, but Jesus also upholds the universe by the word of his power. God remains distinct from his creation but not separated. He is not part of creation but transcendent over it. God continues to be actively involved in caring for and maintaining this world according to his will. One day, Jesus will return and make an even better new heavens and new earth for his redeemed people to once again dwell with him in perfect fellowship free from sin and all its effects.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
Something about Living
What feel like small choices and habits are often the most important when committed to and carried out over a long period of time.
A Quote
"Concerning the spiritual state of his family; [a husband and father] ought to be very diligent and cautious, doing his utmost both to increase faith where it is begun, and to begin it where it is not. Therefore, he must diligently and frequently bring before his family the things of God, from his Holy Word, in accordance with what is suitable for each person. And let no man question his authority from the Word of God for such a practice."
John Bunyan
