A Truth to Believe
What does it mean that God is living and true?
For God to be living and true means that he is the one and only active, living source of all of life and reality. God was not created by human hands out of wood or stone. He is not a force of nature, an energy, or an idea. He is real. He is alive. He is active. He is the only true God.
Throughout the Bible, God is often called the "living God" for he alone is truly God. Only he reigns, saves, and sustains. He is the God who lives forever, who was, who always is, and who will always be.
Not only has God always existed, but he is the fountain of life. His life is the source of all other life. Only in him can we find true satisfaction and eternal life. Furthermore, Jesus Christ defeated death itself and is alive, ruling, reigning, and interceding on behalf of his people.
As the only true God, God is unchanging and reliable. He cannot lie, and in him there is no falsehood. God is pure and ultimate truth. He is everything he says he is, and he will do everything he says he will. God is ultimate reality, and all truth has its source in him.
But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King. At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation (Jeremiah 10:10).
Something about Caregiving
As you love and serve another, the condition of your heart matters.
Patience is an essential act but a powerful force.
It is both a fruit of the Spirit and a virtue that must be cultivated.
A Quote
"If I had preached any other than the doctrine of Christ crucified, I should years ago have scattered my audience to the winds of heaven. But the old theme is always new, always fresh, always attractive. Preach Jesus Christ. That is the recipe for catching men's ears and laying hold upon men's hearts.
The name of Jesus is to man's heart that most mighty of charms. A man's ear waits for it as the morning hour waits for the sun or as the parched earth waits for the shower. Ring out the name of Jesus; It is the sweetest carol ever sung. Ring it out without fear or hesitation, for it is always welcome as the flowers in May.
Men will never tire of it till the flowers are satisfied with sunlight and the grass grows weary of the dew.… There is about Calvary and its infinite stoop of divine love of power that never dies out and never will while the world stands."
C. H. Spurgeon
