A Truth to Believe
What is the Glory of God?
God is in a class all by himself. His excellence, perfection, worth, and purity are so unique that it sets him apart from all things. This is God's holiness: his unique excellence, his incomparable greatness, and infinite worth.
If God's holiness is his unique excellence, then his glory is the radiance of that excellence. God's glory is the brilliance and beauty of his holiness manifested for humans to behold. God's glory is where his holiness goes public.
The Glory of God is the external and visible expression of God's internal essence. It is the display of the infinite beauty, magnificence, and greatness of God's divine character. When God reveals his glory it means to manifest the splendor of his holiness so humans can apprehend it and respond accordingly.
Jesus Christ is the radiance of the Glory of God. He is the place where God's manifold perfections and divine excellencies are most clearly manifested and observed.
And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” Isaiah 6:3
Something about Living
Christian, remember the best is yet to come.
A Quote
“Make up your mind that to behold the glory of God by beholding the glory of Christ is the greatest privilege which is given to believers in this life. This is the dawning of heaven. It is the first taste of that heavenly glory which God has prepared for us, for this is eternal life, to know the Father and Jesus Christ whom he has sent.”
John Owen, The Glory of Christ
