A Truth to Believe
How can we summarize the books of the Law?
The Bible begins with the Law. These are the five narrative books written by Moses in which God establishes his plan of redemption, the nation of Israel, and the old covenant. Here is a summary of each book.
Genesis tells the story of how God created the world, sin ruined everything, and God plans to rescue his people through his promised King.
Exodus tells the story of God delivering Israel from slavery in Egypt and establishing his covenant with Israel at Mt. Sinai.
Leviticus recounts how God gave Israel a way to be holy, worship him, and joyfully live in his presence.
Numbers tells the story about Israel's rebellion in the wilderness, God’s judgment upon his people, and his sustaining mercy.
In Deuteronomy, Moses recalls the story of God's love, his blessings and curses, and calls Israel to covenant faithfulness before they enter the promised land.
Something about Caregiving
Cherish and make the most of the moments God gives you today. Life changes quickly. You never know when life will shift in such a way that yesterday held a moment your heart will yearn for again.
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12).
A Quote
Life is filled with trials and sorrows. But for the believer, they will not be our final end.
Samuel Rutherford once wrote, "When we shall come home and enter to the possession of our Brother's fair kingdom, and when our heads shall find the weight of the eternal crown of glory, and when we shall look back to pains and sufferings; then shall we see life and sorrow to be less than one step or stride from a prison to glory; and that our little inch of time suffering is not worthy of our first night's welcome home to heaven."
